TESTICULAR CANCER

 BACK TO FACT SHEETS

Testicular cancer is the commonest cancer in men aged between 15 and 34 years. Outside this age group the cancer is rare.

Cause

  • Family history of testicular cancer
  • Undescended testicles have an increased risk of cancer
  • Many other unknown causes occur

Symptoms

  • Lump detected in Testicle or differences in shape between the two testicles

Treatments

  • Testicular examinations by the doctor and radiological imaging of any areas of concern

Important to note: Testicular cancer is one of the most easily cured cancers. Advances in medical treatment mean that with early detection, a high cure rate is suspected. Young men should carry out regular examinations.
